Background
Charles the Bold was defeated in Murten in 1476 during the War of Burgundy. A Confederate victory short of making the big news in Fribourg, brandishing a branch of lime ripped on the battlefield. This branch gave birth to a lime to the place where the messenger collapsed.
This battle is not a battle among others, it is the battle which founded the canton of Fribourg.
The race today:
The race takes place on the first Sunday in October on a plot line 17,170 km on a hilly road open to elite athletes nationally and internationally as well as popular riders. A journey to reduced mileage is available to joggers, walking.
The mini Morat-Fribourg, open to children from 4 years, will take place on Saturday afternoon. Depending on their age, they will carry out a five loops in the city centre.
The race Morat-Fribourg is a great classic, a race atmosphere which brings together some 8000 participants and conducted its splendor between lakes and mountains in the beautiful countryside fribourgeoise.
